The Cargo Defence Fund is an initiative of the Nigerian Shippers' Council and is approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria for assistance to importers and exporters who operate in Nigeria for assistance in the pursuit of their claims recoveries and legal remedies.
The Fund is a public-private synergy, managed and administered by a board of Trustees representing major interest groups or stakeholders. It also functions as a mutual scheme and is a company limited by guarantee.
The Cargo Defence Fund is a child of circumstance, borne out of the need to tackle successfully, problems associated with the abandonment of legitimate cargo claims. The Fund seeks to assist Nigerian Shippers in their pursuit of claims recoveries and legal remedies.
